In 1883 Peter Sichel’s great grandfather went to Bordeaux from England and set up a wine buying office there. Despite the company’s prominence and the recent developments that have seen it grow almost beyond recognition, Sichel remains a family business. The five Sichel sons all have vital roles, which ensure continuity of purpose and strategy.
At the head of a wine patrimony of about 350 hectares, the Sichel family can be proud of its authentic signature of “Propriétaire Vinificateur Eleveur“, which enables it to have both an original and very complete approach to the production universe.
From easy-drinking, everyday wines to Grands Crus for special occasions or laying down, Sichel wines are all made according to the same philosophy: if terroir gives a wine its character, its quality and the pleasure it will ultimately give the consumer depends on the care and attention we give to the grapes, vinification, ageing and bottling.
Control of each stage of production, together with a constant quest for quality, a willingness to use modern winemaking methods and a long-term commitment to all of these, is reflected, we hope, in every bottle.
